Prince Philip was thrown from a horse-drawn carriage he was driving in a cross-country race Saturday, but he recovered to cross the finish line last.
The 72-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II was covered with mud but unhurt, witnesses said. The carriage tilted while going through a water obstacle. The prince and others aboard were thrown out. The carriage quickly righted itself and the competitors brought the four ponies to a halt, then climbed back in to complete the course against eight other teams.
