Janet Sweeney Demman of Salt Lake City, 66, died May 12, 1994, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 27, 1927, in Salt Lake City to William P. and Viola S. Sweeney. She married Louis A. Demman in 1953; they later divorced. She worked as office manager and medical assistant for two decades for local physicians George and Esther Gross. In 1968 she went to work for the Coordinating Council of Higher Education which was superceded by the Utah State Board of Regents in 1969, where she worked as receptionist up to the time of her death.Preceded in death by her father, William Sweeney and brother, Paul W. Sweeney. Janet is survived by her mother, Viola Sweeney, Salt Lake City; her sisters, Margaret Bernstrom and Anne Reynolds, Salt Lake City; her brothers, Richard S. Sweeney and his wife Helen, and Tyrus P. Sweeney and his wife Leila, Salt Lake City; her brother-in-law, Ray W. Reynolds, Elko, Nevada; her sister-in-law, Louise Sweeney, Wenatchee, Wash.; her uncle and aunt, Weston and Mary Stout, San Bruno, Calif.; many loving nieces and nephews and their families; and her godchild Janet Finney.
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 16, 1994, at 6:00 pm, at Holladay Memorial Park, 4800 South Memory Lane, (4900 South 1990 East). The family would like to thank the many friends, relatives, and care providers for their outpouring of support. Special thanks and deep gratitude to Lucienne Smith for her loving care.
