Our beloved Howard Marion Dunfield, Jr. passed away May 14, 1994 at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, surrounded by his family of complications of leukemia.

Born April 3, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Howard and Dena Berendregt Dunfield. He married Nancy Louise Oswald on June 26, 1962; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Proud to be an American, he served his country in World War II, Eighth Calvary Medical Detachment. Retired from Intermountain Health Care in 1991 and then worked with his friends at Omnicus until his illness. Past president of the Food Brokerage Assoc. Active high priest in the LDS Church.

His genuine concern and love for others, along with an incorrigible smile, blossomed sincere friendships each and every day. He loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his extended family, his friends and anything chocolate.

Survived by his wife, Nancy, Salt Lake City; children, Sherry Dee Starkey, Whittier, Calif.; Buff S. (and Pam) Brown, Cathedral City, Calif.; Russ Lee (and Vilinda) Dunfield Brown, Newport Beach, Calif.; and Debra L. (and Rick) Reed, David D. (and Sandy) Parton, Deanne Dunfield and Randy H. Dunfield, all from Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren. Also surviving is his mother, Kaye; and a brother, C. Robert (and Lynn) Dunfield, both from Salt Lake City.

Preceded in death by mother, Dena; father, Howard; and a brother, Jim.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 18, at 12 noon at the Holladay 8th Ward, 5450 South Holladay Blvd. Friends may call Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
