Lily Eskelsen has been elected to an unprecedented third term as president of the Utah Education Association.
The teachers union changed its bylaws last year to allow Eskelsen to run for a third term. In recently completed balloting, she received approximately 12,000 votes as unchallenged candidate for UEA's top post.She has been a popular lobbyist with the Legislature for teacher issues and serves on many committees and advisory groups focused on education.
Elected vice president was Phyllis Sorensen, who defeated Vik Arnold by a margin of 1,200 votes.
New members of the board of directors are Arlene Arnold, immediate past vice president; Bruce Warren, Lyle W. Gillman, Terry Olsen, Ann Moulton, Michael R. Evans and Karline Grief. They will serve three-year terms.
