McIntosh leads Buzz to victory
ALBUQUERQUE - Salt Lake catcher Tim McIntosh hit three home runs, including a pair of three-run shots, to lead the Buzz to a 9-7 victory Sunday over Albuquerque.
His three-run homers came in the first and third innings off Dukes starter Ban VanRyn, and he hit a solo shot to lead off the eighth inning against reliever Todd Williams (0-1), who took the loss. Then McIntosh singled in the ninth.
The Buzz got four strikeouts from winner Dave Stevens (3-0), who pitched the final two and one-third innings. Stevens withstood an Albuquerque rally in the ninth, when a one-out double by Todd Hollandsworth and a single by Ron Coomer put two on base. But Stevens struck out Jerry Brooks and Mike Bush to the end the game.
Dukes catcher Hector Ortiz and Coomer each drove in two Albuquerque runs, while Hollandsworth had two doubles.
