A Clearfield man is in jail charged with attempted homicide after shooting at an acquaintance twice Sunday evening with a .22-caliber rifle, according to Clearfield Police.

Charles Trujillo, 48, was booked into the Davis County Jail shortly after the 7 p.m. shooting, police said.According to police, Steven Passarelli, 25, also of Clearfield, was walking toward Trujillo's home at 2379 S. 325 West when Trujillo stepped to his front door and fired at Passarelli twice.

Both shots missed, police said, and struck the foundation of a home across the street.

Police are still investigating the incident and have not established a motive for the shooting.
