Genene Grimm Simpson, 66, Murray, Utah, died May 19, 1994 in a Salt Lake hospital.
Born September 29, 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska, daughter of Donald H. and Emerald Keyes Mitchell. Married Marvin J. Grimm in 1949 and resided in Salt Lake City from 1956-1960, they were among the founders of Cottonwood Presbyterian Church. He died in 1963 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She returned to Salt Lake City in 1986. Married Gordon Simpson December 24, 1986 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Graduate of Benson High School in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from University of Nebraska where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi and Mortar Board.Member of P.R.S.A., W.A.A.I.M.E., Denver Women's Press Club, New Comers of Salt Lake, Pioneer Theater Guild, Salt Lake Art Center Guild, and Cottonwood Country Club.
She operated her own public relations business in Wisconsin, Colorado and Utah.
Survived by husband, Salt Lake City; mother, Boulder, Colorado; brother, Donald Mitchell, Brigham City; sister, Marilyn Ruzicka, Boulder, Colorado; daughters, Jennifer Grimm, Baltimore, Maryland; Maury Jayne Zoellner, Japan; Carolyn Jill Ford, Denver, Colorado; Jody Kraft, York, Pennsylvania; stepchildren, Douglas, Michael, Jonathan, and Patricia Simpson and Anne Weisman; ten grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 So., where family will receive friends one half hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers friends wishing may make contributions to a charity of their choice. Following the service at 1 p.m. the family will host their friends at Cottonwood Country Club.
