Ray Liotta's been so bad he had to get good.

After his chilling performance as a rogue cop in "Unlawful Entry," the actor plays a hero in the new movie "No Escape.""I was just such a bad guy in that, I wanted to be the guy who goes and saves the day," he said. "And what I like about it, I do have a conscience. There's the theme of redemption."

Liotta, who also played a mobster in "GoodFellas," stars as an inmate who battles a penal colony's sadistic prisoners.

"No Escape" was the highest-grossing film of the weekend with $4.6 million, which gets to Liotta's main reason for making the film.
