Hip hop may be the rage, but the Godfather of Soul had no trouble getting 3,000 people to help him turn 61.

James Brown threw himself a party Tuesday in Augusta, Ga., with actress Sharon Stone, rapper Tone Loc, the O'Jays and actor T.K. Carter paying tribute to the self-proclaimed "hardest-working man in show business.""Brother right here is a living legend," rapped Loc.

About 3,000 people paid $17.50 each to watch.
