Police took a 10-month-old baby into protective custody Sunday after his parents carried him along as they allegedly broke into a West Valley home.
The couple was arrested in connection with a residential burglary. They also face investigation of neglect.Police surrounded an apartment in a complex near 3600 S. 2200 West after a neighbor reported hearing a window break, West Valley police Sgt. Valeen Illsley said. The boy's father, 27, fled through a window and was arrested in the complex moments later. Police recovered cocaine and syringes from him, Illsley said.
When they entered the apartment, police found the boy's mother, also 27, armed with a butter knife and the baby asleep on a couch. The baby was taken to a shelter.
