Mary Ware Knight Stohl, a resident of Salt Lake City, passed away May 1, 1994 at the age of 86.

Born June 28, 1907 in Salt Lake City, where she lived all of her life except for a short while in Brigham City. Daughter of Louis Michael Knight and Lillian Josephine Gates. Wife of Lloyd Oleen Stohl, whom she married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 15, 1933. They had two children. Graduated from East High School and received a BS degree in elementary education from the University of Utah. Taught first grade for many years in the Salt Lake District, much of the time at Dilworth Elementary School; retired in 1971.A very devoted teacher and friend of young people, she freely gave of her deep love and abundant talent to the youth in her charge. Always true to the faith of her parents, she served for many years as a worker in the Sunday School of the LDS Church. A devoted wife; a most loving mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; an elect lady in every way.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lloyd Oleen Stohl; a daughter, Mary Eleanor Poelman and husband, Walter Squires; a son, Dr John Lloyd Stohl and wife, Alice Richards; a brother, L. Gates Knight and wife, LaVerne Kjar, all of Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Thelma Knight and Eleanor Knight.

Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, May 7th, at the Monument Park Fifth Ward, 1930 South 2100 East, Salt Lake City. Friends may call at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, Friday evening, 6-8 p.m., and at the ward chapel, Saturday morning, 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
