Elfreide Volder Zwang, age 66, passed away May 3, 1994 in Salt Lake City unexpectedly, after a long battle with heart disease.
Born July 8, 1927 in Semarang, Indonesia, daughter of Adolf and Antoinette Tutuarima Volder. Married Frans Zwang, November 18, 1949 in Indonesia; solemnized in Los Angeles LDS Temple, October 15, 1960.Joined the LDS Church in Holland 1959. She was a active member serving in the Primary presidency, as a teacher and music coordinator and also in the name extraction program. She was a very compassionate person, always concerned for others before herself. She retired from the general accounting department of ZCMI. Prior to meeting her husband, Frans, she worked for the Dutch Intelligence Service in Indonesia.
Survived by husband, Frans; son, Denis and wife, Luana Zwang; daughter, Pamela Tobey; seven grandchildren; Jeanette and husband, Jim Zwang-Schein, Sandra, Jeffery, Trishia and Laurie Zwang, all of Sandy, Utah; David and Jeffrey Tobey, of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, J. Volder, M.D., of Holland. Preceded in death by a brother, Dolf; granddaughter, Jennifer Tobey; and three days ago by a sister, Fransina Volder, whose services will be held the same day in Delft, Holland.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 12 noon at the Bennion Heights 8th Ward, 3045 West Bernina Drive (off 3200 West 5820 So.). Friends may call Wednesday, 7-8:30 p.m at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 So. Redwood Road and Thursday at the church 11-11:40 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
