Proceeds from a benefit dinner Saturday evening, May 7, will go to the St. Joseph Villa charity care fund.

The fifth annual "Hope for the Elderly Benefit," sponsored by Friends of St. Joseph Villa, will be held at St. Ann Recreation Center, 430 E. 2100 South.Tickets are $25 per person. Reservations are preferred and may be made by calling Ginger Moulton at 487-7557, or tickets may be purchased at the door. To date the care fund has raised more than $41,000.

A social hour begins at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7:30 p.m. A live auction will follow a program honoring former Salt Lake Tribune sports editor John Mooney's "long commitment to the community and dedication to sports."

St. Joseph Villa is a not-for-profit long-term care facility that has served the needs of the elderly since 1947 in the Salt Lake area. The nursing home provides financial assistance to the charity care fund to those who cannot afford the total cost of their care, nursing home officials said.
