By a one-point margin, Bennion Junior High School was eliminated from the national Academic Games Tuesday, losing to a team from Meyzeek Middle School, Louisville, Ky., in the teleconference competition.

Bennion, last year's second-place team nationally in the academic contest for junior high school students, was eliminated in the semifinal round.The Utah winner had survived competition with 13 other Granite District schools to become state champs. It then defeated teams from Gwinnet County, Ga., and Pueblo, Colo., to arrive at the semifinals.

Tuesday evening, the Granite Board of Education honored the Bennion team, along with top scorers from the other Granite schools that participated in the games.
