The couple you love to hate, with all due respect to Tom and Rosanne, blew into town night generating plenty of excitement but little else.
Madonna and her rumored new platinum-coifed beau, San Antonio Spurs forward Dennis Rodman, successfully evaded autograph hounds and reporters while bouncing around Salt Lake City leaving behind a trail of uneventful sightings Monday and Tuesday.No four-letter words. No thrown elbows. No story.
The Material Girl was first spotted Monday at Salt Lake's Baci Trattoria Restaurant about 10 p.m. Monday after arriving in town, via private jet. Accompanied by Rodman, Spurs teammate Jack Haley and a female friend, the pop icon selected a window booth and dined on caesar salad, rotisserie chicken and a glass of dinner wine.
Employees recalled Madonna being "friendly and well-behaved."
"Everyone in the group was very nice. They laughed a lot and really seemed to enjoy themselves," said Baci manager Patrick Cashman. "Other restaurant patrons were good about respecting their privacy, although one woman did approach their table - and Madonna graciously signed an autograph."
The volatile Rodman even watched a taped interview of himself with workers on a restaurant television.
"Dennis asked my opinion on his rough style of play, and I told him I could appreciate his intimidating game," said Cashman.
No word on any tip Monday's meal may have earned.
Madonna reportedly kept a low-profile Tuesday morning at the downtown Embassy Suites Hotel before working-out with Rodman at the Triad Center's Anatomy Academy.
"Madonna was quiet but very nice," said an Anatomy Academy employee. "She spent about an hour riding a stationary bicycle and lifting weights."
After exercising, the couple stopped by a neighboring cafe ordering take out plates of fruit and cheese before being whisked away in a tinted black limousine.
Delta Center ticket officials expected the entourage to attend Tuesday's playoff game. But neither Madonna nor Rodman could be found come tip-off.
Subsequent sightings suggest Madonna spent Tuesday evening at Park City's Deer Valley Resort, while others report said she and Rodman left together for Las Vegas.
