Six Utah high school seniors won scholarships in the oratorical contest sponsored by the Utah Credit Unions. A final contest was held at Salt Lake Community College in mid-April.

Winners were: Dee Sanani-kone, West Jordan, first; Heidi Anderson, Bingham, second; Amanda Sharp, Skyline, third; Kristen Brown, Skyline, fourth; Amanda Caraway, Davis, fifth; and Heidi Newbold, Alta, sixth.
