On April 16, you printed an article by the Associated Press titled, "Officials say tenants could give the OK for anti-gun searches." It said President Clinton had asked Attorney General Janet Reno and Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros to devise a way to get around a federal appeals court ruling in Chicago.
That ruling declared that the Chicago Housing Authority's policy violates the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution, which protects citizens against "unreasonable searches and seizures."Not only did the president approve of the multi-apartment sweep, but called the ruling a setback to efforts to get guns out of public housing projects.
Most of us do not live in public housing projects, but when the government is allowed to enter any of our homes unwarranted to search for and seize our guns, we lose all our freedoms. When the government has seized all our weapons, how will we protect ourselves from tyrants, should they come to office?
When Bill Clinton took the oath of office, he swore to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. What he has just done is a blatant attempt to put down the very thing that governs and protects this country. His action was treason.
How can we allow him to lead this country when he has such disregard for the laws that govern it?
