ADULT TENNIS - Register by May 16 for the American Grill Memorial Weekend Classic at Cottonwood Country Club. Play begins May 26 . . . ALTA CENTER - Spring Ladies League will be May 4-25 on Wednesdays 9-11 a.m.; Spring Youth Tennis starts May 5 and runs for five weeks on Thursdays or Fridays; Adult Tennis League begins May 11-29 on Wednesday's from 6:30 p.m. to dusk; and on May 14 and 22, Alta Canyon Sports will host an Adult Beginner Tennis Workshop from 9 - 11 a.m. Alta Canyon Sports is located at 9565 Highland Drive. 942-2582.


COACH PITCH. Salt Lake County Parks and Rec are holding Coach Pitch baseball for players 12-14 and 14-18. Games June through August. Register by May 17 at Copperview Community Center, 8446 Harrison St., Midvale. Fee $35. 561-0075.


LEAGUE. The American Fork Men's Slow-Pitch Softball League is forming. Fee is $495 per team. Includes 16 to 20 games and post-season tournament. Play double header one night a week. Early games 6:30 p.m. 763-3080.


LEAGUE. All-Star basketball for boys and girls, ages 13-14. No sign-up fee. Playing in the league is free. Play starts in June and will run through July. Teams formed according to school area. Call John at 328-1535.


RACE. The Earth Day Pedal Cup will be held in City Creek Canyon on May 7 starting at 10:30 a.m. Mountain bike or road bike. Age divisions 10 and under to 50 and over. 583-6281.

RIDE. The Kaysville Funfest Days Bicycle Ride, "A Hill of a Bike Ride," will be held May 28. Distance: 65.3 or 49 miles. Go from Kaysville over Trappers Loop. 544-5300 or 546-1115.


LESSONS. Alta Canyon Sports, 9465 Highland Drive, is offering swimming lessons starting May 23. There will be nine classes of 50 minutes. Sessions start every two weeks. 942-2582.


WALLYBALL. Alta Canyon Sports Center is starting a drop-in league for all levels of play. This is on-going event. Informal leagues on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. and Friday at 9 p.m. Free for members, $4 for non-members. Structured league on Saturdays and Wednesdays, with round-robin and double elimination tournaments every 6 weeks. Saturday formal league start April 23. 942-2582.

LEAGUE. Salt Lake County Parks and Rec is taking applications for the 1994 adult Spring Volleyball League for women's A and B, coed A and B, and men's A. Also a 3 on 3 for men's 30-plus. 468-2560.

PRACTICAL SHOOTING. The Salt Lake Practical Shooting Association will hold monthly matches and practice sessions. Monthly matches will be held at 9 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month at the Hendricksen PMAA range at the East Canyon exit of I-80 in Parleys Canyon. Call 580-7836 or 942-8573.

REI CLINICS. On May 10, Elliott Mott will present a bicycle clinic to cover rules of the road, ride etiquette, equipment and clothing, tools, shifting and spinning, pre-ride preparation, cycling fitness and conditions, and basics for flat tire repair . . . On May 17, dutch oven chefs Dellis Hath and Tony Lund will give a cooking demonstration and offer a taste of their delectable treats, give tips on oven selection and meal preparation . . . On May 24, Margie Jensen, Beth Glenn and Dan Felsen will teach all people need to know to get started backpacking . . . . On June 1, there will be a canoe demonstration at the Liberty Park pond between 3-7 p.m. About 20 different models of canoes will be there for people to try. DISABLE PROGRAMS. Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer recreation and leisure experiences to individuals with physical and mental disabilities. Adapted Sports is designed to meet the physical and social needs of each participant. The objectives are to teach fundamentals of sports with emphasis on fun, cooperation, fair play and team building skills. 561-0075.

RACQUETBALL. Alta Canyon Sports Center is offering a free drop-in racquetball class for players ages 8-14 on Fridays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. 942-2582.

WEIGHT LIFTING. Alta Canyon Sports is offering Teen Weight Training Workouts Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-6 p.m., and on Saturday 10-11 a.m. Coaching provided. Fee is $1.50 for area residents, $2.50 for others. 942-2582.
