Dorthia Ellen Harvey Bell died at her home, May 3, 1994.
She was the daughter of George W. and Mary Baker Harvey, born June 12, 1902 in Garland, Utah, and raised in Lehi, Utah. Married Millard Bell of Salt Lake City, March 22, 1923. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Salt Lake until October 1944, when her husband was transferred to Tampa, Florida by the Walgreen Drug Co. The family was active in the LDS Church and traveled hundreds of miles throughout the Central Florida District of the Southern States Mission helping to build up the church. Their home was always open to the missionaries.Dorthia served for many years as counselor in the District Relief Society, supervisor of the District Primary, Branch Relief Society President and also taught in the Sunday School and Primary organizations. When the Tampa Stake was organized in October 1959, she worked in the ward Relief Society and Sunday School until her husband retired in 1970. The family moved back to Utah and settled in the Fort Union 6th Ward. Dorthia was active in the ward Relief Society until she and her husband were called as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple, where she served for eleven years.
Survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edwin H. (Elaine) White, Columbia, Mississippi; Phyllis D. Bell, teacher in the Granite School District; eight grandsons, three granddaughters, 20 great- grandchildren; brother, Daniel W. Harvey, Salt Lake City; two sisters, Myrtle Service, Salt Lake City; and Dee Mecham, Springville. Preceded in death by her husband in 1990; a brother, George W. Harvey; sisters, Mary B. Harvey, Melva Potts Cundick, Della Brinkerhoff, Delphia Baker, Sue Hayward and Martha Morton.
Funeral services Friday, May 6, 1995, 1:30 p.m., Union 6th Ward Chapel, 6770 South 500 East. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East So. Temple, Thursday 7-9 p.m. and at the church Friday, 12:30- 1:15 p.m. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens.
We, your daughters, will miss you during this short separation, but rejoice that you are reunited with your eternal companion.
