A multiagency, cooperative celebration of Utah Prehistory Week will focus on activities in and near Zion National Park.

Zion Superintendent Donald A. Falvey says the park is joining forces with the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, the state of Utah and the Iron County Chapter of the Utah State Archaeology Society (USAS) to celebrate Utah's past during the week of May 7-14."Utah Prehistory Week is a time to focus on the state's rich and diverse natural and cultural past," said Falvey. "We are joining forces statewide to draw attention to our heritage, which includes ancient life preserved in the fossil record, the cultural remains of the Anasazi and Fremont people, the rich contributions of contemporary American Indians cultures, and the story of the pioneer exploration and settlement of the region in the middle 19th century," he added.

Detailed copies of the week's activities are available at Zion National Park. The park will also feature a series of special videos at the Zion Visitor Center daily throughout the week.

Admission to Zion is $5 per vehicle, and the permit is good for seven days.
