Iomega Corp., a company manufacturing high-performance removable mass storage products for desktop computers, had a $5.4 million net loss or 36 cents per share in the quarter ending April 3 compared to net income of $1.2 million in the same quarter a year ago.

Company officials said sales declined in the quarter by $2.5 million or 7 percent due to a decline in sales of Bernoulli products, offset by increased sales of tape products and sales of removable hard disk cartridges.

The decline in Bernoulli product sales is due to price reductions implemented in 1993 and early in 1994.During 1993, company officials made several restructuring decisions, which resulted in a total restructuring charge for the year of $14.3 million.
