Salt Lake police nabbed a man Wednesday who they believe robbed a downtown bank moments earlier.
About 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, a man entered Zions Bank, 2 S. Main, and approached a bank teller. "He came in by himself and produced a note to a clerk saying he had a gun and wanted money," explained Sgt. Phil Kirk. The teller gave the robber some money and a dye pack. Shortly after the man left the bank, the dye pack exploded. Officers in the area spotted the suspect, arrested him and recovered the money.
No weapon was seen during the robbery, and officers did not locate one when they arrested the suspect, Kirk said. The man, 65, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated robbery of a bank.
