Despite having a much better region record than its opponent, the Weber High baseball team found itself clinging to a one-run lead over Northridge midway through their game Thursday afternoon.

Then came the big bat of Justin Anderson. At the plate with the bases loaded in the sixth inning, the senior first baseman ripped a three-run triple to lead the Warriors past the Knights 9-5.Anderson went 4-for-5 on the day and drove home five runs for Weber, which improved to 7-2 with the win. Teammate Nate Way-mant, making his first start of the season, went 3-for-3 and had six putouts. Bryce Castleton held Northridge (2-7) to seven hits.

Region 2

Skyline 7, Highland 2

At Skyline, Dave Alsop gave up two runs on five hits to lead the Eagles past the Rams and to the region title. A four-run fourth inning proved too much for Highland (7-3), which finished second in the region. Skyline ended up 9-1.

Region 3

Taylorsville 12, Kearns 7

At Taylorsville, a six-run fourth inning rallied the Warriors to a victory over the Cougars. Jared Larsen hit two home runs, including an inside-the-park homer, and knocked in three runs for Taylorsville (10-0). Kearns fell to 3-7 with the loss.

Bingham 9, Hunter 2

At Bingham, the Miners took advantage of some early errors to cruise past the Wolverines. Bingham (6-4) scored three runs in the first inning and four in the second to jump out to a 7-1 lead and never looked back. Hunter fell to 1-9 with the loss.

Region 6

Cyprus 8, Jordan 1

At Cyprus, the Pirates improved to 19-3 overall with a big victory over the Beetdiggers. John Eyre picked up the victory for Cyprus, as he combined on a three-hitter with Spike Nash and Ben Staley. Mike Gonzales had a triple for the Pirates.

Woods Cross 9 East 4

At East, the Wildcats broke open a close game with a four-run sixth inning to defeat the Leopards. Cody Malmrose smacked two triples for Woods Cross (6-6), and Beau Papa-Dakis drove home two runs in the first inning with a double.

West 10, Olympus 9

At Olympus, Jed Carter smacked two home runs, including a grand slam, to help the Panthers squeak past the Titans. West (7-5) overcame a seven-run second inning by the Titans, which included a grand slam by Shawn Gane.
