An Orem man was arrested and booked into the Orem City Jail Thursday night following a chase through Orem that resulted in three wrecked police cars and two injured officers.
Orem Police Lt. Terry Taylor said officer Wayne Fish tried to pull over a car at about 1500 N. Geneva Road at about 9:45 p.m. when the car sped away. Fish followed the speeding car onto I-15 at 1600 North and pursued the vehicle south to the 1300 South exit. The car then traveled north on 1200 West to 400 South and turned eastbound and drove to Carterville Road. Taylor said the vehicle was traveling between 60 and 70 mph through the city. When the chase reached Carterville Road, the fleeing car ran into another police car driven by officer Chris Hendrickson. The car then drove to University Avenue and proceeded north. At 800 North in Orem, the driver lost control. Fish pulled his vehicle in front of the stopped car and Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Ross Hunt pulled his vehicle behind the suspect car. Before surrendering, the man rammed Fish's patrol car and then Hunt's patrol car.
Taylor said all three vehicles suffered about $1,000 in damage. Fish and Hendrickson both suffered neck injuries.
A 27-year-old man was arrested and booked into jail for investigation into evading an officer, driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident.
