A Pleasant Grove woman who was struck by a car Wednesday while trying to rescue her 3-year-old daughter from the street was listed in satisfactory condition Friday morning at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
Provo Police officer Cory Smith said at about 5:13 p.m. Wednesday, Rita Ruelas, 34, dashed onto 500 West at the intersection of 200 North to grab her daughter. The child was running across the street to her father and sisters, who had crossed the street a few moments earlier. Ruelas and the little girl, also named Rita, were struck by a southbound car driven by Ann Maycock, 42, Salem.The mother and daughter both were transported to the hospital. The mother suffered a broken leg and pelvis. The daughter was treated for a severe scalp laceration and released.
