Even though the Western Athletic Conference doesn't select a diving coach of the year, the WAC Diving Coaches Association has decided to name its own - Keith Russell, men's and women's coach at BYU.

Russell, a native of Mesa, Ariz., and a six-time national diving champion, won the 1968 NCAA three-meter springboard title while attending Arizona State, and later was selected for the 1968 U.S. Olympic Games Diving Team.Following an LDS mission to Chile in 1972, he enrolled at BYU where he won All-America diving honors and earned a B.S. degree in business.
