Secretary of State Warren Christopher says U.S.-Mexican relations are strong as he and four other top administration officials open talks on cross-border issues.

Accompanying him on the 24-hour trip, among others, are Attorney General Janet Reno, Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt, Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros and EPA Administration Carol Browner.Citing the recently enacted North American Free Trade Agreement, Christopher said the U.S-Mexican relationship is "stronger and better than it's ever been."

Christopher was in Mexico City for a meeting of the U.S.-Mexico Binational Commission, a Cabinet-level grouping that examines a broad range of cross-border issues each year.
