Scott Stahoviak went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in the game-winning run in the eighth inning to lead the Salt Lake City Buzz to a 6-3 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox Tuesday night.
Stahoviak's RBI double in the Pacific Coast League game prompted a 3-run inning for the Buzz and broke a 3-3 tie. Dan Masseller then singled to drive in a run, and Stahoviak scored on an error to end the scoring.Pedro Castellano hammered a solo shot in the bottom of the second for Colorado Springs and reduced Salt Lake's lead to 2-1.
In the seventh, Ty VanBurkleo doubled in two runs to tie the game and end Sky Sox scoring.
Bill Wissler (1-3) posted the win which lifted Salt Lake to 25-27, Curt Leskanic (2-5) took the loss and dropped Colorado Springs to 29-22.
Edmonton 14, Las Vegas 10
At Las Vegas, Mitch Lyden's two-run single in the top of the 10th inning broke a 9-9 tie and highlighted the Trappers' five-run 10th which lifted Edmonton to a win over Las Vegas.
Phoenix 7, Tacoma 4
At Scottsdale, Ariz., the Phoenix Firebirds pounded Tacoma starter Ray Young for six runs in two and one-third innings as they coasted to a win. Firebird Dan Carlson (5-2) struck out seven in six and two-thirds innings.
Tucson 18, Calgary 1
At Tucson, Ariz., Chris Hatcher and Scooter Tucker drove home four runs each and Brian Hunter had four hits and three RBI as the Tucson Toros defeated the Calgary Cannons.
Vancouver 10, Albuquerque 8
At Albuquerque, Luis Raven drove in four runs as Vancouver beat Albuquerque to earn a split in a four-game series.
