The 16-year-old girl told Salt Lake County detectives that the man approached her Tuesday morning when she was on her way to school. After coaxing her into his car to briefly discuss their relationship, he sped off in the direction of a Murray LDS church parking lot, where he tried to persuade her to reconcile with him. When she refused, he held an ether-soaked rag to her face. While she was losing consciousness she kicked him in the groin and then tried to calm him down by telling him she would reconcile.
The man returned her to Granite High, where she contacted police.
