SHARE BANDS STRIKING UP THIS WEEKEND ON WASATCH FRONT

Major Wasatch Front concerts this weekend include:

- THE BEACH BOYS, one of the most enduring groups from the 1960s, who've spanned two generations of fans with their idyllic musical fantasy of the California lifestyle ("Surfin' Safari" and "California Girls"), will perform at ParkWest tonight at 7:30 p.m.Opening act will be America, a trio composed of sons of U.S. military personnel and whose early 1970s hits include "Horse With No Name" and `Ventura Highway."

General admission tickets are available at all Smith'sTix outlets.

- INSATIABLE, Salt Lake-based band, tonight with the Dancehall Crashers and Stretch Armstrong at Hangar 18, 430 S. State, Orem, and on Sunday, June 12, with MU330 at the Black Pearl, 350 Main St., Park City.

Insatiable will return to Hangar 18 on Monday, June 13.

- SALSA BRAVA, another Salt Lake-based big band, will kick off the 1994 season of Red Butte Garden summer concerts. The group features an eclectic mix of salsa, mambo and marionette songs from both north and south of the border.

The concert is Sunday at 6 p.m. at Red Butte Garden, located near Fort Douglas above the University of utah campus. For further information, call 581-IRIS (4747).

- KRCL'S DAY IN THE PARK is Sunday in the north portion of Liberty Park. Arthur Hull's drum circle will begin at 11 a.m. The schedule includes Yankee Clipper at noon; 12:45 p.m. Rick Schwemmer; 1:15 p.m. Voodoo Swing; 2 p.m. Dances of Universal Peace; 2:30 p.m. Zion Tribe; 3 p.m. Jerry Joseph; 4 p.m. Maggie Beers and Julie Mark; 4:45 p.m Dale Meerberg; 5:15 Nick Gravenites; 6 p.m. Kismet; 7 p.m. The Obvious.

The event is free and open to the public and produced by the volunteers of KRCL-91.1 FM.
