An Ogden man was being held without bail Friday pending a mental-health evaluation in connection with the shooting death of his former business partner.

Joseph M. Favero, 46, appeared before 2nd Circuit Judge Roger Dutson on a first-degree felony murder charge. He is accused of shooting Scott Holbrook, 47, at the victim's business office on Wednesday.Favero was being held at the Weber County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond, but the prosecution asked Dutson to increase the bond to $100,000.

Dutson ordered that Favero be held without bail pending a mental-health evaluation.

Holbrook was killed at his business office, Lawn Doctor, after someone went inside and shot the man several times. A car was also driven through the wall of the office either before or after the shooting. Police believe that the gunman shot Holbrook both before and after the car was wrecked inside.

Police did not know about the slaying until two hours after the shooting when Favero reportedly walked into the police station and told police he had killed someone.
