Jamie was born June 6, 1979. She has a sweet, caring disposition, likes to be around adults and tries
hard to please. She enjoys needlepoint, reading, listening to music and playing Nintendo. She has lived with three foster families, one of which planned to adopt her.Jamie is borderline to moderately mentally retarded. She works very hard in school and as a seventh grader is reading at the fourth- and fifth-grade level. She receives speech therapy and will continue to need special education and vocational training. She has attention deficit disorder and takes medication to increase her attention span. Jamie is not hyperactive.
A two-parent family or single mother is needed. Jamie wants a "keeping" family, where she is loved and wanted. She is likely to do well in a family that can accept her as she is and give her the attention she needs. She'd probably do best as the youngest or only child at home. Jamie has the potential to be independent as an adult but needs help learning to be responsible about her hygiene and needs to keep working on developing good social skills. Financial assistance is available.
