SHARE SEMINAR TO FOCUS ON WOMEN’S WORKPLACE ISSUES

"A Look at Women's Issues in the Workplace," a seminar on the roles of women in the labor force and issues women face in the workplace, will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 17, at the State Capitol.

Cost is $10 for pre-registration or $12 at the conference. For more information, call the Commission for Women and Families, 538-1736.The conference will be opened by Lt. Gov. Olene Walker, the governor's liaison to the commission. Four-time Olympic steeplechaser Henry Marsh will offer the keynote speech on "Gaining Control."

Conference presenters include Sandra Adams, Nancy Collier, Colleen Colton, Barbara Hirst, Anna Jensen, Lecia Parks Langston, Dixie Minson, Linda Oda, Marie Phipps, Barbara Toomer, Fanaye Turner, Ursula Turman and Denice Wheeler.

The conference is one of several being held nationwide to identify and discuss areas of discrimination that block the advancement of women in the workplace. Recommendations developed at the conferences will be incorporated in U.S. contributions to the U.N.'s Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in September 1995.
