Registration for marathon, 10K begins

Registration is now under way for the Deseret News/Granite Furniture Marathon and 10K road races on July 25.

According to race director Doug Padilla, "Entry forms are available at all Granite Furniture locations, The Pro Image locations along the Wasatch Front and the Deseret News." The cost to run either race is $16 if registration is received prior to July 16. Thereafter, the entry fee is $20.

Padilla also reminded interested runners that this is a historic year in that it's the 25th anniversary running of the marathon, the oldest marathon in the intermountain west. Nearly 1,000 participants are expected.

The 10,000 meter road race is in it's 11th year and was recently rated the fastest 10K course in America by Runner's World magazine. About 2,500 runners are expected.

Granite Furniture becomes a title sponsor this year with the Deseret News as over $17,000 in prize money is being offered.
