Jimmy Carter's good deeds since leaving the White House have earned him an award from the National Civil Rights Museum.

"I think all of us will agree that Jimmy Carter has excelled in a tremendous way in service to this country since he has been president," said Mike Cody, a member of the museum's board.The museum at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tenn., where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968, will present the annual National Freedom Award on Sept. 22.
