SHARE ADELMAN DECLINES JOB INTERVIEW WITH NETS

Former Portland Trail Blazers coach Rick Adelman has turned down a chance to interview for the New Jersey Nets' vacant coaching job.

Adelman said Nets general manager Willis Reed contacted him Tuesday night."I called Willis back yesterday to decline the interview," Adelman said Thursday. "It would be different if I were their guy.

"If they'd offered me the job, I might have seriously looked at it. But they were interviewing a number of people for the job and I don't know how serious they were about me."

The Nets job opened when Chuck Daly resigned after the Nets were eliminated fromt the playoffs.

Adelman said he might be interested in speaking with the San Antonio Spurs, who are also looking for a coach after John Lucas resigned.
