When an Emigration Canyon man arrived home Thursday night, there was a surprise waiting in his living room.

But the surprise - an intruder - also got a surprise from the owner, who held the man at gunpoint until deputy sheriffs arrived. The suspect broke into the home sometime Thursday evening and apparently had been there for some time.

"He made himself something to eat, took a shower, then kicked back and relaxed, making himself at home," said Salt Lake County deputy sherriff Jim Potter.

The 38-year-old intruder, a transient, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of burglary.
