With the stock and bond horses still on shaky shanks, Silver tossed her untarnished mane and surged to the forefront in this week's race. She recovered her on-again off-again first-place title with the help of a $297 unrealized gain. Gold, like faithful Tonto, followed the leader and gained $66 and sixth place. Less gloriously, the saver steeds entered second, third and fourth place. The U.S. Savings Bond, Money Market Funds and 90-day CD ate dust with nominal gains of $8, $7 and $10 respectively. The Lipper foals remain unimpressed, the Lipper Mutual gaining $66, keeping eighth place, and Lipper International losing $44 and backing into seventh place. The stock and bond horses skittered on inflation fears, with Blue Chip and OTC remaining in fifth and ninth place, respectively. The 30-year T-bond slithered down as far as tenth place would let him, losing $143 this week.
