Police suspect computer hackers are responsible for two separate thefts of computer components from Bountiful High School this month. Parts taken total more than $12,000 in value, according to Sgt. Roger Green of the Bountiful Police Department.

The high school's computer room was burglarized once over the June 4-5 weekend, Green said, and again June 12. The thieves disassembled a dozen computers, taking hard drives, memory chips, and other components, Green reported.Police and school officials suspect hackers looking for parts and programs in the two incidents and say the thieves are apparently familiar with the layout of the school's computer room.

A $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible has been posed by the police and school. People with information may contact the Bountiful Police Department, 298-6000.
