Cambric Graphics Inc., 180 S. 300 West, a company that converts manually created documents into digital form for use by computer-aided design and technical publishing systems, has signed a $1.2 million data-conversion contract with Alascom, Anchorage, Alaska.

Under terms of the agreement, Cambric converted more than 10,000 Alascom engineering documents into electronic computer-aided design files for the Alaskan telecommunications unit of Pacific Telecom. The documents concerned satellite transceiver base stations and included floor plans, electronic schematics, maps and related items.Leon Smith, Alascom's computer-aided design manager, said Cambric's effort was critical to Alascom's future needs.
