Fremont County faces a lawsuit from the University of Utah Hospital, demanding payment for procedures yet to be performed.
In particular, the hospital wants the county to pay $203,352 for a bone marrow transplant for Jeffrey Lynn Hobbs of St. Anthony, which has not taken place yet.The county commissioners agreed to pay $10,000 of the claim for Hobbs and submit the remainder to the state Catastrophic Health Care fund established to pay indigent medical bills.
However, Gov. Cecil Andrus vetoed funding for that pool, leaving no money to pay the claims.
In the lawsuit filed in 7th District Court, the hospital asks for payment in advance for Hobbs' treatment.
