CENTERFIELD MAY IMPROVE TOWN’S CULINARY WATER SOURCE

SHARE CENTERFIELD MAY IMPROVE TOWN’S CULINARY WATER SOURCE

Centerfield officials are looking at improvements to the town's culinary water source, estimated to cost about $92,000.

The Town Council was advised by Val Kofed, engineer with Sunrise Engineering in Fillmore, that the entire collecting system at the spring is in need of replacement. He said water is being lost because it is flowing around the system.Kofed recommended removing existing structures, excavating to find out the spring source, and then installing the new collection system. He predicted such a project would double or triple the community's water supply.

The Town Council has been concerned that rationing might be necessary again this summer because of a potential water shortage. It was concluded that replacing the collection system at the spring would probably solve the problem, noting it would be necessary to find a source for a loan to finance it.

The council also authorized spending $2,000 for cemetery beautification and other projects.
