Boxer Tommy Morrison arrested

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Tommy Morrison, former holder of a portion of the heavyweight title, was arrested early Sunday after allegedly punching a man outside police headquarters.

Morrison had just posted bond for a friend arrested in an earlier disturbance, when he got into an argument with a man posting bond for someone in the same disturbance, said a police spokesman.

Colorado racers dominate High Uintas Classic

Racers from Colorado participated in large numbers at the 6th annual High Uintas Classic bicycle stage race June 18-19 and brought home wins in all classes.

The High Uintas Classic is a three-stage race beginning with a 65-mile road race from Kamas to Evanston, Wyo. Stage 2 was an uphill time trial to the Evanston airport followed by the final stage 3 criterium in downtown Evanston.

Dwight Hall of Ft. Collins, Colo., won the stage 1 road race and held the lead through the two remaining stages on Sunday to take the Pro/Elite/Expert Men's title. Paul Wolf, Flagstaff, Ariz., won the final stage criterium to solidify his second place in the overall standings. Jessica Whitehall, Boulder, Colo., won two stages to take the women's overall title. Her win in stage 2 put her solidly in the lead. Cary Witherspoon, Greensboro, N.C., placed second in the road race and third in the time trial and criterium to finish in second place in the overall standings.

Brad Loyd, Grover, Colo., used his climbing skills to win the uphill time trial to give him enough of a lead to edge Martin Grygar, Salt Lake City, for the overall Junior title.

Viewmont site of tryout for Atlanta Braves

Viewmont High School in Bountiful wil be the site of a tryout for the Atlanta Braves, Thursday at 10 a.m. Anyone 16 to 22 years of age is invited. Additional information may be obtained by calling Roger Farnsworth at 451-6724.
