Recipients were:Whitney Deming, a paraplegic, who received a $1,000 scholarship and gold plaque. She is an accomplished violinist at Bingham High School.
Stephanie Barney, Jordan High School student and swimming team member, who suffers from cystic fibrosis. She received $500 and a silver plaque.

An anonymous donor in the group provided the bulk of the awards to the runners-up. Former Gov. Norm Bangerter was the speaker.
