A colorful rainbow arcs over exuberant athletes during the opening ceremonies of the ninth annual Utah Summer Games, being held this week in Cedar City. Utahns ranging in age from 3 to 72 are competing in 38 events, including archery, soccer, swimming, basketball, track and field, gymnastics, cycling, triathlon, power tumbling and horseshoes. Regional competitions were held earlier in the spring in Park City, Logan, Richfield and Orem. The championship games, which are always held in Cedar City, run through Saturday evening.
