A Utah County man has been fined $100 for illegally dumping construction waste on public land.

Tom Anderton, owner of Classic Drywall, admitted to a U.S. magistrate that his employees dumped drywall and other construction debris in Five Mile Pass, on the Utah-Tooele County border, about 5 miles west of Fairfield.U.S. Bureau of Land Management investigators discovered the waste earlier this year and traced it to Anderton's business. Other similar waste was found on nearby state lands and is the subject of further investigation by the Utah Division of State Lands and Forestry.

BLM district manager Dean Zeller said his agency spends thousands of dollars cleaning up after illegal dumpers.
