JUDGE THINKS COLLEGE IS PUNISHMENT ENOUGH

A man who admitted driving getaway cars for a burglary ring was sentenced to three years - in college.

A state judge ordered John Paul Larrahona, 20, to finish college and return to court in three years with a diploma."There's a lot of good in you, and I want to help you," Superior Court Judge Randolph M. Subryan said Monday. "But if you so much as spit on the sidewalk in the next three years, you're going to jail."

Subryan stayed Larrahona's sentence of 300 days in jail and four years' probation. Larrahona pleaded guilty last month to three counts of burglary.

Larrahona said he fell in with the burglary ring because he lost his job and was afraid his Trans Am would be repossessed. His lawyer said Larrahona is in his second year at Montclair State University.
