WordPerfect Corp. is in the game as a sponsor to World Cup USA 1994 - supplying software to be used at all the soccer game venues by the organizing committee and international press representatives.
WordPerfect 5.1 for UNIX will be used in the press and reporting facilities at each of the nine World Cup '94 sites, as well as at the event headquarters.WordPerfect Office 4.0 for DOS and Windows and Word-Perfect Office Remote will be available for use by staff members, allowing them to communicate electronically between the various event locations and with traveling staff members.

"Word-Per-fect develops their word processor in 28 different languages, which allows us to offer exceptional facilities for international press representatives to report the details of one of the world's largest sporting events to their home countries in their native language."
According to Mark Calkins, vice president of product and strategic marketing, WordPerfect Office products "help the World Cup organizing committee stay connected through electronic mail, calendaring and scheduling - even though they are traveling between nine different locations around the country."
The Orem-based company, recently acquired by Novell Inc., is also providing direct access to the company's highest-level support technicians 24 hours a day for the duration of the sporting event.
"Our corporate vision is to help the world communicate. By supplying software and services to World Cup USA 1994, we literally accomplish that goal," said Brent McKinley, director of UNIX marketing.
The World Cup events take place between June 17 and July 17 in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, Orlando, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
