Bernardo Brito had an RBI single and a two-run homer to lead the Salt Lake Buzz to a 9-4 rout of the Vancouver Canadians in the Pacific Coast League Wednesday.

The teams were tied 3-3 after four innings when Brito singled Jeff Carter in from second for a one-run lead. Two innings later, Brito hit his 19th homer, a two-run shot that gave the Buzz a 6-3 lead.The Buzz added to their lead in the eighth when Tim McIntosh hit a two-run single after Steve Dunn's RBI single.

Vancouver added a run in the ninth inning on a bases-loaded walk by Salt Lake reliever Mo Sandford. But Matt Stevens prevented the Canadians from further eroding Salt Lake's lead when Orlando Mercado hit into a double play.

Mike Trombley started for the Buzz and improved his record to 2-3. Vancouver starter Keith Morrison (1-1) took the loss.

BUZZ BRIEFS: The Cleveland Indians acquired Buzz outfielder J.T. Bruett from the Minnesota Twins for future considerations, and assigned him to Charlotte of the International League.

Colorado Springs 14, Las Vegas 3

Stu Cole went five for five, including the game winner.

Phoenix 4, Calgary 3, 11 innings

Ray Ortiz' run-scoring single in the 11th scored Reuben Smiley to give Phoenix the win.

Ray Montgomery and Brian Hunter hit back-to-back solo home runs for Tucson.
