SHARE FRANKLIN QUEST REPORTS 33% EARNINGS INCREASE

Franklin Quest Co., which markets the Franklin Day Planner, on Wednesday reported earnings of $5.3 million for its third fiscal quarter ended May 31, up 33 percent over the same period last year.

Earnings per share for the quarter were 24 cents, up from 19 cents for the third quarter of 1993.Sales for the quarter increased 34 percent to $48.9 million.

Sales for the first nine months were $161.5 million, up 29 percent over the period a year ago, and nine-month earnings of $24.2 million were up 32 percent.

Earnings per share for the first nine months were reported at $1.10 per share, up from 87 cents for the first three quarters of fiscal 1993.
